SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. -- Troopers say Terry Lawson of Leander, Texas, went off the right side of Missouri 5 in northern Camden County on Sunday morning after he crossed the center line and overcorrected. His southbound pickup hit a tree and flipped, landing on its top about 4 a.m.
Both Lawson, 60, and his passenger, Jeffrey King, 40, of Kansas City, died at the scene. The Highway Patrol says neither man was wearing a seat belt.
