SPRINGFIELD, -- As storm season kicks in, there's a conference in Springfield about preparing for the next disaster.

Most of the more than 100 exhibits are about preparing for natural disasters. There are storm shelters on display along with power generators. This conference is all about being prepared if the worst were to happen.

There will be seminars on how to grow and store food. Plus learning about alternative medicines. But more than anything, organizers hope people will come and get information about preparing for the next big storm.

"Joplin had a power outage that was not expected.  So did Katrina. If something happened very quickly,  would you not want to have what you need, when you need it? Or would you rather be a refugee?" said Vincent Finelli.

The conference is this Saturday and Sunday at the E-Plex.
