FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The woman at the center of the Bobby Petrino firing at the University of Arkansas is no longer employed by the school.

Jessica Dorrell resigned Tuesday, effective immediately as the football program's student athlete development coordinator.  Athletics director Jeff Long said it was in the best interest for Dorrell to resign.

"While Ms. Dorrell had a legitimate right to apply for and accept a position within the football program, the circumstances surround the former coach's decision to hire her compromised her ability to be effective in such a position," said Long.  She and I believe she would have the opportunity to move on."

Dorrell was a passenger with Petrino when he crashed his motorcycle April 1 in Southern Madison County. Petrino admitted he lied to Long, saying he was the only person involved.  An Arkansas State Police report days later proved otherwise.  Petrino was fired less than a week after the police report became public.

Dorrell agreed she would not attempt to profit off her involvement with the Arkansas football program.  The university agreed to pay her approximately $14,000 in a settlement between both parties.  Dorrell herself has yet to make a public statement since the motorcycle crash.
