Springfield, MO- A day after earning their first win of the season, the Springfield Cardinalshad an opportunity to win their first series with a victory over Frisco Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals sent right hander, and Lee's Summit native, Trevor Rosenthal to the mound against righty Barret Loux, a former first round pick in 2010 out of Texas A&M.
After a two and a half hour rain delay, the Springfield Cardinals dropped the last game of the series 6-1 to fall to 1-2 on the season.
Brad Hawpe, former slugger for the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres, made his AA debut with Frisco going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs including a solo homer in the top of the second. Hawpe also added an RBI Sacrifice Fly in which Cards' centerfielder Oscar Tavares lost his footing on the warning track after making the circus catch to allow the speedy Leury Garcia on second to tag up and reach home.
