SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A motorcyclist is hospitalized after crash just before 1 a.m. Monday in the 2500 block of South Scenic Avenue. Police say the man hit a guardrail under the old railroad overpass and lost control of the bike.
The man was thrown into the ditch alongside the road, and knocked unconscious. Police say the man's injuries are serious.
About a year ago, the Springfield Public Works Department installed the guardrail along Scenic at the railroad underpass. It's a place where many accidents happen near South Creek. Scenic curves between Horton Smith golf course and Nathanael Greene park.
The guard rail was installed after a car ran off the road in the same area and fell more than 11 feet onto the Ozark Greenways trail below.
