Majority of backpacks worn by teens weigh more than 15 pounds

One in four teens said they had back pain for better than two weeks during the previous year

Picked up your kid's backpack lately?  Researchers in Spain found more than 90% of teens carried backpacks weighing more than 15 pounds.  One in four teens said they had back pain for better than two weeks during the previous year.  Common back problems included Scoliosis, lower back pan and muscle spasms.  The most serious problems were found among teens who carried the heaviest backpacks.
