SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Organizers of a major summer celebration in Springfield say the event is on for 2012, with a few changes.

Fireworks on the Field, which drew roughly 10,000 people in 2011, will take place on a new date this year, coinciding with Independence Day. The July 4 show, in addition to the new date, will add a Springfield Cardinals game and offer free City Utilities bus shuttles to connect participating events.

One ticket will give the buyer admission to all activities, including general admission to the baseball game, according to a press release.

The Springfield Cardinals will play the Midland Rockhounds at 5 p.m. Hammons Field that day, with local band Members Only providing musical entertainment after the game. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:45.

Tickets go on sale June 18 at Price Cutter supermarkets and Hammons Field for $7 apiece.

Full event information is available at www.itsalldowntown.com, or by calling the Urban Districts Alliance office at (417) 831-6200.
