NEW ORLEANS, La. - Arkansas' basketball season likely ended on a sour note in the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
LSU freshman center Johnny O'Bryant scored 18 points to lead the Tigers (18-13, 7-9) to an opening round 70--54 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks (18-14, 6-10). The Hogs end the year losers of eight of their last ten games.
Arkansas' "Fastest Forty Minutes" started fast, but had little to show for it. The Hogs trailed 16-12 with 7:38 to go in the first-half, despite forcing six turnovers in those opening minutes. The two schools entered halftime tied at 28.
The Tigers began the second-half on a 14-5 run to take control. Arkansas never had an answer for O'Bryant, who scored 12 of his game-high 18 points in the second-half.
