MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- A 26-year-old from Clarkridge, Arkansas, is behind bars after officers say he kept his wife and her two children captive in their home.

The Baxter County Sheriff says Justin Hutson got into an argument Friday night at the couple's home; it turned physical when he knocked his wife down and kicked her in the head.  He then allegedly put her and the two kids, ages four and five, in the car.

The Baxter County sheriff's department says he threatened to kill them and drove around for several hours before returning home and locking them in the basement.

Deputies say on Saturday morning Hutson gave his wife her cell phone back - he took it the night before.  Detectives say he wanted her to call her family - he believed they might think something was wrong if she didn't talk to them Saturday morning.

The wife was able to tell her sister she and the kids needed help - the sister then called 911.

Officers arrested Hutson without incident Saturday morning.  He faces numerous charges including domestic battery, false imprisonment and two-counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
