SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Another candidate is seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for Missouri lieutenant governor.  State Rep. Sara Lampe of Springfield says she will emphasize her seniority on the House Budget Committee, running a small business, and her teaching career.

Lampe has represented the 138th District in Jefferson City since 2005 and will be forced out by term limits in January.

The other Democrats planning to run are Susan Montee, a former state auditor; former state lawmaker and U.S. Department of Health and Human Servicesregional director Judy Baker of Columbia; and Conservation Commissioner Becky Plattner of Grand Pass.  The Republican candidates are two-term incumbent Peter Kinder, state Sen. Brad Lager of Savannah, and attorney Mike Carter of St. Peters, who lost in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor in 2008.

The filing period for state and county offices in Missouri opens on Feb. 28 and closes on March 27.  The party primary elections are Aug. 7 and the general election is Nov. 6.
