February 04, 2012|by KY3 News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- The Springfield Police Department is asking local businesses to be cautious when taking credit cards, debit cards and checks from customers.

Cops say they've seen an increase in the number of fake credit devices and checks being given for payment.  They're also seeing stolen ones.

The department is asking business owners to always ask for identification, and they're asking customers to be patient when asked for that ID.
