Kyle Weems (Sr., F, Topeka, Kan.) moved into fourth place on MSU's career scoring list with 1,758 points. He trails only Daryel Garrison (1,975 - 217 points ahead of Weems), Curtis Perry (1,835 - 77) and Johnny Murdock (1,834 - 76) among the Bears' all-time great scorers. He now has 917 career points in MVC games and needs 51 points to reach 1,000 career points scored at JQH Arena.

  • The Bears have drawn 51 charges this season (2.1 per game), including a team-high 19 by Keith Pickens (So., G, St. Louis, Mo.). Pickens has drawn 11 charges over the last 10 games.

  • Christian Kirk (Fr., F, Springfield, Mo.) has started nine straight games for MSU and has collected 42 points and 48 rebounds during that span. In his 14 previous games combined, he had 43 points and 29 rebounds.

  • Kyle Weems needs just 8 rebounds to give him 800 total for his career, a feat achieved by just four other Bears -- Curtis Perry (1,424), Danny Bolden (1,133), William Doolittle (1,042), and Don Carlson (844). Doolittle (1974) was the last Bear to snag 800 boards.

  • The five three-pointers scored by Kyle Weems (Sr., F, Topeka, Kan.) against Wichita State on Wednesday was a season high for any MSU player. Weems has hit six three-pointers on three previous occassions.

  • THE OPPONENT:

Coach Mark Phelps' Drake club (13-10, 6-6) made just 33.3 percent of its field goal attempts on Wednesday night as Indiana State held off the Bulldogs, 61-54 in Terre Haute.  Rayvonte Rice (So., G, Champaign, Ill.) posted a game-high 17 points to go with 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while Ben Simons (Jr., F, Cadillac, Mich.) scored 13 points behind a pair of three-pointers and collected 3 steals. Drake was also an uncharacteristic  11-for-20 (.550) at the free throw line against Indiana State. Drake was out-rebounded by Indiana State 37-32.

Rice, who was part of the MVC All-Freshman Team last season along with MSU's Nathan Scheer (So., G/F, Washington, Mo.), leads Drake with an 17.3 scoring average. Simons also scores 16.1 points per game for DU, which is 10-2 at home this season with victories in its three of its last four games at the Knapp Center.

Drake returns four starters and 11 lettermen from a 13-18 squad that was 7-11 in the MVC (7th) last season.
