COLUMBIA, Mo. - Securing the country's top player will make any college football recruiting class shine.

Mizzou inked 18 commitments Wednesday in the Class of 2012, including everybody's top receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.  The class will be the first to play in the Southeastern Conference next season.

Springfield Hillcrest High School's Dorial Green-Beckham's signature stole the national headlines.  The 6'6", 220-pound receiver is rated as the country's best.  Rivals.com rates him as its overall prospect.  Green-Beckham set a national high school record for receiving yards with more than 6,300.  The five-star receiver chose Mizzou over Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.

Mizzou picked up a national record-breaking quarterback too.  Maty Mauk set a national career record for passing yards at Kenton High School (OH).  The four-star rated signal-caller did all that while operating a spread offense.   Mauk is the brother of Ben Mauk, who led Wake Forest to an Orange Bowl appearance.

Offensive guard Evan Boehm will likely see playing time early.   The Lee's Summit West High School four-star senior is rated by most analysts as a top ten player at his position.

Defensively, linebacker Donavin Newsom stands out.  The three-star senior from Parkway North is rated as a top 30 player at his position.  The 6'2", 220-pound Newsom should provide depth to the Tigers already strong linebacking corp.

Missouri overall received 18 letters of intent on the first day of the signing period.
