Track and Field Bears wrap-up day two in Bloomington

The Missouri State track and field squad concluded the final day of events at the Indiana University Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Missouri State track and field squad concluded the final day of events at the Indiana University Relays late Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind.

Erin Edwards finished sixth in the 5,000-meter run finals with a personal best time of 17:22.89. Althia Maximilien finished sixth in the 800-meter run invitational finals, running a season best 2:13.23.

Kara Graham finished 15th in the 400-meter dash finals with the third fastest Missouri State time in the event this season with a time of 58.25. Merica Moncherry finished 14th in the 400-meter dash invitational finals with the fourth fastest MSU time this season (58.43).

Pernell Joseph and Shantel Llewellyn finished sixth (7.69) and seventh (7.70), respectively, in the 60-meter dash finals.

Day One

The Missouri State track and field squad had a tremendous outing in their first at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. The Bears concluded their first day of events late Friday night.

Junior Kimsue Grant finished first in the long jump with a personal best leap of 19-00.75, shattering her previous best of 18-06.00. Sophomore Gemma Smith finished fourth with a distance of 18-05.25. Jelani Kelly took home second in the shot put with a distance of 47-08.00.

Red-shirt senior Shantel Llewellyn finished second in the 200-meter dash finals with a time of 24.84. Merica Moncherry and Kara-Aretha Graham also qualified for the 200-meter dash finals, finishing 11th and 15th, respectively. Erin Edwards finished third in the 3,000-meter run finals with a personal best time of 9:58.51.

Llewellyn, Pernell Joseph, and Ekate Lymon all qualified for the 60-meter dash finals. Freshman Gabrielle Ade-Onojobi qualified for the 60-meter hurdles in her first outing as a Bear. Both finals for the 60-meter dash and hurdles will be held Saturday.

The Bears will be back in action at the Shocker Quad meet in Wichita, Kan. The Quad is a two-day event that will take place Feb. 3-4. Results will be made available on www.missouristatebears.com   following the completion of each day.
