With the price of fuel going up, fewer flights and a dismal economy, finding a cheap flight to get from A to B isn't easy.
A new report out today says timing may be your best bet when finding that great deal.
The Airlines Reporting Corporation released a report today stating the best time to buy a flight is six weeks from the departure date of the flight. The report says, "At that point during any given 120-day advance purchase period throughout 2011, fliers paid 5.8% below the year's average fare of $358.30. ARC determined this by examining close to $80 billion worth of ticket sales, spread origin and destination."
The company added that they aren't recommending everyone only buy tickets six weeks out. Demand can shift, flights can be canceled or other issues that could affect the flight.
