Daughter finds father's body in house fire

Apparent oversight by fire investigators

January 15, 2012|by KY3 News

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, for a Lawrence County man who died in a house fire earlier this week.  That man's body was actually discovered by his own daughter and her boyfriend.

Lawrence County sheriff Brad Delay says flames broke out Thursday night at the home just off "M" Highway.  When fire investigators first went out, they evidently missed the body of 61-year old Larry Pearman.  Pearman is believed to have been inside the home when the fire started, but they didn't see him.

His daughter, Kelly Pearman, tells KY3 News she went to the scene the next morning and saw her dad's body.

The sheriff says this is unacceptable that firefighters missed it, and that it instead had to be found by family.

Authorities do not suspect any foul play.

A cause for the blaze is under investigation.
