SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Dorial Green-Beckham of Hillcrest High School spent this week getting set for a big national stage on Saturday: the Army All-American Bowl.  The football star from Springfield is getting plenty of national attention.

Ninety of the best football high schoolers in the nation are here.  They were chosen for the game from 400 nominees by Rivals.com and All American Sports.  Number one on their list is DGB.

“He was the one guy I wanted to see.  He’ll be part of the offense on Saturday; the quarterback will throw it up and see what he can do,” said Mike Farrell, a recruit analyst for Rivals.com.

DGB’s speed, size, and physicality makes him the top recruit in the nation among high school seniors.  Green-Beckham enters the game fresh off being named the nation’s offensive player of the year by USA Today.  With a national record of 6,447 yards receiving, many schools want him.  Farrell says it’s down to – alphabetically -- Alabama, Arkansas, Mizzou, Oklahoma, and Texas.

“He doesn’t like to talk about schools, but we’re hearing Arkansas and OU are the two, with Arkansas the leader,” he said.

Among those here to watch Green-Beckham are Hall of Famers from various sports – including the toast of the town from San Antonio, David Robinson.  The Admiral of the National Basketball Association has heard of DGB.

“I’ve heard about him; my son talks about him a lot,” said Robinson.

“Great company, I do my thing,” said Green-Beckham.

DGB’s been practicing with the West All-Stars since Monday; that’s when rivals.com’s national recruit analysts first saw him in person.

“Monday he was a little nervous,” said Farrell.  “Tuesday I saw him, and it was awesome.”

“It’s amazing to work out with these guys,” said Green-Beckham.

Former National Football League tight end Shannon Sharpe says DGB has to go where he wants -- not his family or friends.

“I’m a believer that, to be great, do what others won’t or can’t do,” said Sharpe.

You can see that game at noon on Saturday on KY3.
