BRANSON, Mo. -- The Romano's Macaroni Grill at 1111 Branson Landing Boulevard closes Friday night at 10 for the final time. Owner Bruce Swisshelm says the business just "couldn't make it down there."
The closing impacts 10 employees. Swisshelm says two of the employees accepted a transfer to the Macaroni Grill in Springfield.
Things are "going well in Springfield," Swisshelm said.
The closing is the latest rough news for the Branson economy. In December, Branson aldermen voted to take over ownership of the Factory Merchants Mall, 10 years before Simon Property's lease of the city acreage was scheduled to end. Branson receive $300,000 from Simon to help make up for loss of lease payments and sales taxes. The city will hold public hearings on the future of the mall property.
