Mizzou tries to stay unbeaten in Big 12 opener with Oklahoma

January 03, 2012|by Doug Owen, KY3 News

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Trying to build on their best start in 30 years, the sixth-ranked Missouri Tigers hope to keep things rolling when they open the Big 12 schedule Tuesday night against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Mizzou (13-0) bumped up two spots in The AP's latest poll, hanging on to its undefeated record after surviving a nail-biter Friday at Old Dominion.

The Tigers will like their chances of adding to their best start since the 1981-82 season--when they started out 19-0--if recent history against the Sooners is any indication. At home, Mizzou has beaten Oklahoma (10-2) five straight times.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Mizzou Arena, and will be televised on MSN/Fox Sports Midwest and ESPN Full Court.
