SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Greene County sheriff's deputies made an arrest for the killing of a teenager from Republic.   The body of Weston North, 17, was found in a ditch along Farm Road 178 near Highway ZZ on Saturday.  He had been stabbed and his throat cut.

Gabriel Roche, 18, of Republic is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.  He's in the Greene County jail without bond.

Erika North, Weston's mother, says she has lost a part of herself.  She cannot believe her son is gone, and wants answers.

"It's the hardest thing for a mother to have to go through," said North.

Just one day after finding out her son was murdered, Erika North wants people to know Weston North was a good kid.   He liked to skate board and spend time on his computer.  He has a brother, Matthew.

"He has a little brother that's not going to have a big brother no more," said North.

North did attend Republic High School, but dropped out last fall.

Through the tears, North is talking publicly because she wants answers.

"I hope that they catch everybody involved so I can get justice and peace and try to move on with my life," said North.

The probable cause statement by a detective that is the basis of the charges gives some idea as to what happened in the final moments before North's death.  Statements show three people were with him before he was killed: Gabriel Roche; his brother, Michael Roche; and an unidentified person.

The detective wrote that Gabriel Roche told deputies he wanted to kill North because he believed he was a "snitch."  He also wanted his brother, Michael, to see someone get killed.

Gabriel Roche told law enforcement specific details about how he says he killed North, which the detective says matched the injures found on his body.  The detective wrote that Roche said he first stabbed North with a knife in the chest, North ran, Roche chased after him, then stabbed him again in the back and side.

Roche told investigators that North begged for his life, and then Roche cut his throat.

"Weston didn't deserve to die. He was a sweet caring boy.  All his family just loved him a lot.  I just want him back," said Erika North.

Erika North was shown a photo of Roche.  She says she has never seen him before and doesn't know anything about him.

While the probable cause statement says three people are involved in the case, Roche is the only person charged, as of Sunday.  The investigation is ongoing.  If you have any information about the case, you can call the sheriff's department at (417) 868-4040.
