Heavy Rain North of I-44

A very deep upper level storm is now ejecting out of the southwest.  Deep tropical moisture is flowing into the Ozarks and the radar has been very active this afternoon.  Already some areas are approaching one inch of rain and an additional inch is possible tonight.  A few claps of thunder are also possible however no severe weather is forecast.

Blizzard on the Plains

Cold air is spilling down the east side of the Rockies and mixing with the moisture.  Heavy snow and blizzard conditions are forecast for western Kansas and eastern Colorado tonight.  Over a foot of snow is possible out west.  I do not think we will see any snow in the Ozarks.  The moisture will move east long before the air becomes cold enough to create snow.

Looking Towards Christmas

Colder seasonal temperatures will be the rule for the rest of the week.  A new disturbance could bring a few flurries to the Ozarks on Friday or early Saturday however I am not anticipating any accumulation.  Christmas Day at this point looks dry and cold with highs in the mid 30s.
