MoDOT raises speed limit on U.S. 54 south of Osage Beach

December 14, 2011|by Steve Grant, KY3 News | newsalerts@ky3.com

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Transportation raised the speed limit at Lake of the Ozarks between Linn Creek and Osage Beach.  MoDOT says U.S. 54 between Highway Y in Linn Creek and the new Osage Beach Expressway is 65 miles per hour, up from 60 mph.

The change makes the U.S. 54 speed limit 65 mph all the way from the middle of Linn Creek through the Lake of the Ozarks area to the Business Route 54 stoplight in Lake Ozark on the north side of Bagnell Dam.  North of there, it's 70 mph most of the way to Jefferson City.

The newest part of the Osage Beach Expressway, the part south of Grand Glaize bridge that is shown in purple in the photo, opened just before Thanksgiving.  The speed limit on Osage Beach Parkway (old U.S. 54) is 45 mph.  Workers put up new speed limit signs this week.
