Republic, Mo — More than two thousand people are expected to turn out this weekend to shed light on the history of the Springfield, Mo area. Ted Hilmer with Wilson's Creek National Battlefield joined KY3's Ozarks Today this morning with a preview of the Luminary Driving tour.
The Park's Website says; The battlefield will place over 2,500 luminaries around the tour road, before the ceremony, on December 10. For the past seven years, we have had 800-1600 visitors each year that view the luminaries, along with the Ray House, to see how the Ray Family celebrated a typical Christmas holiday. At 4:30 p.m., a ceremony will be held to show our appreciation for the many volunteers that assist with this annual event, and to honor the soldiers, on both sides, for their patriotism.
The Luminary driving tour is this Saturday with the opening ceremony starting at 4:30PM. Tours continues until 9:30AM. Admission is free. For more information, call (417) 732-2662
