December 08, 2011|edited news release

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A judge convicted a man from Springfield for assaulting a woman more than four years ago.  Randy Williams Sr., 55, waived his right to a trial by jury.  Circuit Judge Tom Mountjoy heard evidence last May 5 and issued his verdict on Wednesday.

Police say Williams attacked an ex-girlfriend on May 17, 2007, dragged her across a parking lot, stole her car keys, and attempted to force her into her car.  She was able to escape and get help from another civilian and police officers.

Mountjoy scheduled sentencing for Feb. 24.  Williams faces prison sentence between five and 15 years for second-degree robbery, and between one and seven years for second-degree domestic assault and attempted kidnapping.
