Fire damages nursing home in Hollister

December 05, 2011|edited news release | newsalerts@ky3.com

HOLLISTER, Mo. -- A sprinkler put out a fire in a nursing home on Monday morning.   Smoke filled a wing of the Point Lookout Nursing Home, however, and the staff moved residents to other areas.

Western Taney County firefighters were sent to the home about 8 a.m. but the fire was out by the time they arrived.  Investigators say the fire started in an in-wall heating unit and spread to a bed, curtains and wall.

The room has heavy fire, smoke and water damage.   The rest of the wing has smoke and water damage.  Firefighters helped the staff remove smoke and water from the wing.
