SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Runners hitting the streets of Cotter, Ark. this Saturday morning will help kids a world away. The White River Marathon helps provide clean water, bathrooms and a place for the kids of Katito, Kenya, to simply wash their hands.
We recently interviewed Justus Koech of World Vision via Skype. He joined us from his office in Nairobi.
Justus Koech says, "I tell you that, in Katito, many people didn't have latrines when we started with the work of World Vision. We now have coverage of latrines up to 62 percent. I want to tell the people running the marathon that this is a great cause. It is not just running. You are going to change the lives of children. You are going to change a life through provisions of well and hand sanitation facilities," said Koech.
The runners have helped raise $120,000 in the past seven years for the project.
