SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The plan for a new water tower southeast of springfield is moving forward.. Even though it is unwelcome to some living nearby.

Many homeowners are unhappy with city utilities proposal to build the one million gallon water tower near highway 65 and Evans road.

CU says growth in that area has put a major strain on water pressure.
Neighbors say while they understand the need for one, they think that C-U has other options than their back yards.

"I think everybody understands that there is a need for this, for the water pressure issues and that sort of thing, but it just seems like there could be a more appropriate place for it that's not that far away," said conerned resident Becky White.

"We're not giving up yet. We are talking with all the neighbors and we're not completely out about getting a lawyer at this point," said Michelle Enno, another concerned neighbor. "We feel like we've exhausted everything else and that would probably be our final straw."

CU looked at other sites, but says the Wildwood area is the best choice for the water tower.

A board comittee will consider the plan tomorrow afternoon, if approved, it will go before the full CU board on Thursday where the public will be allowed to speak on the issue.
