Dorial Green-Beckham will go for national high school receiving record in regular-season finale

MARSHFIELD Mo. - Dorial Green-Beckham filled up the stats sheet again, playing only a half.

The Hillcrest Hornets (8-1) senior receiver caught nine passes for 189 yards and and three touchdowns in a 56-6 victory over the Marshfield Blue Jays (4-5) in district play.  It is the second-straight game Green-Beckham did not play in the second half after the Hornets built a big lead.

The monster half sets up a chance for Green-Beckham to surpass the national high school career receiving yards record at home in his final regular season game Thursday.  The Hornets will host the Republic Tigers.  Both schools clinched playoff berths in Class 4.

"I would like to break that record coming back at home, instead of doing it this week away," said Green-Beckham.

He is only 62 yards away from breaking Abram Booty's career record for receiving yards at 5,867.  Booty starred in the mid-1990s at high school powerhouse Evangel Christian in Shreveport, La.

"Each week I focus on it, I think about it, each catch is going to add on to the record books," said Green-Beckham.  "I'm getting closer and closer to that record.  I'm just coming out here and being the best I can be."

Green-Beckham has been on the radar of college coaches since his freshman season at Hillcrest.  The country's top-rated receiver by recruiting analysts visited both Arkansas and Missouri in October.  However, he says not to expect a commitment until after the season.

"I will finish the season first, then lead-on and see where I want to lean forward," said Green-Beckham.
