12-hour forecast
A very cold night is in store for the Ozarks. Currently considerable clouds are draped across the Ozarks. the center of the upper level low will gradually shift northeast tonight allowing the sky to clear over western sections of the Ozarks. The air is very dry out west and this will allow temperatures to drop into the mid and upper 20s mainly from Springfield west. Areas along and east of highway 63 could hang onto the clouds longer and thus keep temperatures warmer. Regardless anyone with a garden should take steps to ward off the frost and freezing conditions tonight.
Nice Weekend
Once the upper low lifts north sunny dry conditions will return to the Ozarks. Highs Thursday will remain chilly as the rest of the cold air drains off. Warmer weather will return beginning Friday and last through early next week. Saturday will be the nicer of the weekend days. Sunday will be a bit cloudier as a weak upper level disturbances crosses the area. the next big chance for rain will come late Tuesday or Wednesday when a strong cold front slides through the Ozarks. A few showers or thunderstorms are possible. Temperatures behind this next cold front will be even colder than today!
