CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo-- She was shot multiple times and lives to tell about it.

You might recall the incident in Ozark last January when Robert Berry was accused of shooting his mother-in-law.

Berry was on the run for a few days but was later caught.

After months of healing, Donnell Woodruff now wants to tell her side of the story.

Woodruff no longer lives at the place she calls home. She often visits to see her two horses.

"It still makes me a little jittery coming down here.  I'm amazed that I lived through what I went through," said Woodruff.

What she lived through is nothing short of what she calls a miracle.

"When he came from the hallway he fired a pistol at me. Which hit me directly in the mouth and took out two teeth.  Another shot hit me by my ear and broke my jaw and took my jaw bone. It hit the nerve to my ear and now I got deafness in my ear. I can't open my jaw that wide because it's been broke," said Woodruff.

Woodruff says she was shot nine times.

"I believe God was protecting me.  I truly believe it with all my heart," she said.

Woodruff says she's not been in her house since the shooting.  She says she cannot bring herself to come inside.

Woodruff was able to escape and get help from a neighbor.

She was only in the hospital for about a week.

"I just feel like there was a reason and God used me for a purpose to get that man off the streets," she said.

Woodruff believes she got another chance at life and the opportunity to take care of her grandchildren.

Robert Berry is behind bars and scheduled to be in court later this month.

He's charged with assault, armed criminal action and burglary.

The trial with a jury is scheduled in December.
