BRANSON, Mo.-- A small plane crashed upon landing at the Taney County Airport Wednesday night. At approximately 9:30 pm, the Western Taney County Fire District responded to the Taney County Airport and found a single engine two passenger aircraft in the grass between the runway and taxiway with moderate damage to the aircraft. Both passengers in the aircraft were out of the aircraft upon arrival and were not injured.
The pilot stated he was attempting to land at the airport and "bounced" trying to land. The right side of the aircraft then went off the pavement into the grass where the aircraft spun and came to a stop. The aircraft suffered moderate damage to the propeller and landing gear. A small fuel leak was found and was contained until the aircraft could be moved.
Personnel from the Taney County Airport along with fire district personnel moved the aircraft off the runway to the airport terminal where it was secured.
The pilot stated the aircraft had originated from Arizona and traveled to Branson for an aviation event.
Personnel from the Western Taney County Fire Protection District, Taney County Airport, Taney County Ambulance District and Taney County Sheriff's office all responded to the incident.
