SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- To celebrate World Rabies Day and provide a much needed service for area pet owners, a rabies clinic will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. SAAFhouse Spay-Neuter Clinic and the Springfield-Greene County Health Department will manage the event, which will be at All Pet Supplies, 2845 W. Kearney St.
Pet owners are encouraged to attend if they have pets needing rabies vaccinations but cannot afford the cost of a private veterinarian. The fee is $10 and must be paid in cash.
All dogs must be on leashes; cats must be in carriers.
SAAFhouse is the first Humane Alliance model spay/neuter clinic in the state of Missouri. During the first year of operation, the clinic performed 4,000 surgeries, preventing the births of more than 20,000 unwanted puppies and kittens.
