SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The FBI will join the Missouri Attorney General's Office and several agencies this week to educate senior citizens about the latest scams. The Better Business Bureau is holding a "Senior Scam Jam" to discuss the current round of ripoffs that target the elderly, including a Publisher's Clearinghouse scam and other fake money winning contests.
The event is Friday, Sept. 16 at the Southside Senior Center in Springfield. Doors open at 8 a.m. "Scam Bingo" starts at 9. The game pairs the names of different scams with numbers so players learn about different money-making schemes. A panel of experts will address the crowd at 10. The discussion will include time for questions.
