DWI suspect flees from officers in Springfield, crashes north of city

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A chase of a suspected drunken driver ended in a crash north of the city early Friday.  Officers tried to pull over the man around 2 a.m. at the intersection of Grand Street at Kansas Expressway.  He took off and that started the chase through the city.

The driver lost control of his car near Farm Road 151 at Farm Road 96, went into a field and flipped the vehicle several times.  The crash also snapped a power pole but no outages have been reported.

The driver and a passenger in the car were hurt in the wreck.  The sheriff's department had not released their names by late morning Friday, pending formal charges.
