CABOOL, Mo. -- The Cabool Police Department says it learned early Wednesday evening that a man charged with killing his wife is in custody in Colorado. A U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Apprehension Task Force arrested Daniel Chapman without incident. A news release from the Cabool Police Department says Chapman was arrested at a home in Buena Vista in which he had been staying.
Chapman, 54, is accused of shooting his wife, Sandra Chapman, 55, at a convenience store in Cabool on Business Route 60 on Aug. 11. Since then, police believe Chapman was in Arkansas, Oklahoma and western Kansas. They thought he might be headed toward Beatrice, Neb., where his mother lives. Police tracked the movements of his cellular telephone.
A probable cause statement used as the basis of the murder charge says a witness told police that he saw the Chapmans inside the store, which they owned together. He said he pulled up to the door, took two steps to go inside, and was waved off by Dan Chapman.
