Two suspects in custody for burglary, theft of copper

The copper was taken from Industrial Electric Supply

Joplin, Mo -- A Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to Joplin Industrial Electric Supply in reference to a burglary.  Upon arrival the Deputy made contact with the business owner.  The owner stated the front gate was completely off the hinges and lying on its side.  All the company trucks were checked, each one had been gone through, a few of them had window broken out.  All the tool boxes had been gone through and several tools were missing as well as several rolls of copper wire.  Surveillance video showed a 2006 white Dodge truck loading 2 big rolls of copper.

Brandon James Book, 21 of Carthage, was arrested and charged with Tampering with a motor vehicle, Felony Stealing,.  Jason C. Russell, 25 of Joplin, was arrested and charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Felony Stealing.

After a search warrant was issued, the following items were recovered:  Dodge pickup truck, hay baler, motorcycle and a weapon was seized.

Investigation continues.

The charges for which the above were arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt.  Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
