SHENZHEN, China - A Team USA debut to remember for Marcus Denmon.
The Missouri Tigers guard scored 11 points to lead Team USA to a 108-67 victory over Mexico in pool play at the 2011 World University Games in China. The Kansas City native added three steals, three rebounds, and three assists.
“I felt like we got our first game jitters out,” said Denmon. “We came out a little slow, but that comes from having 12 new guys coming together."
The team of college all-stars started slow, trailing Mexico 24-22 after the first quarter. The Americans built a six point lead by halftime. Then, Team USA dominated the second-half.
"In the second half we started putting the pressure on them," said Denmon. "We started getting some layups and dunks and that always makes the games fun."
