FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Razorbacks running back Knile Davis will likely miss the entire 2011 season with a left ankle injury.

The junior suffered the injury during practice Thursday night.  It was the first full-contact practice of the preseason.

"I am extremely disappointed for Knile," Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino said.  "He is a captain who was incredibly focused on the upcoming year."

The all-Southeastern Conference selection in 2010 led all SEC running backs in rushing with 1,485 yards.  He added 13 touchdowns.  Davis bested the 100-yard rushing mark in six games throughout his sophomore campaign.

Junior running backs Ronnie Wingo and Dennis Johnson will likely share the bulk of the carries for the Hogs in 2011.  Johnson  missed eleven games last season after he suffered a bowel injury.  Senior tailback Broderick Green is already out for the seeason, recovering from a knee injury.

"I am fully confident in the mindset of our running back group and their ability to perform," said Petrino.

Arkansas opens the season September 3 against the Missouri State Bears.
