GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — A local group of Civil War reenactors held a Joplin tornado benefit Saturday.
The friends got together hoping to raise money for a fellow reenactor who lost everything in the Joplin tornado. The event included music, period dress displays and a silent auction.
Donated sabres, books, even a Confederate $5 bill went to the highest bidder to help the Tim Fields family.
"The Saturday after the tornado, a group of reenactors went down to help (the Fields) recover what they could; not much left," reenactor Becky Paschall said. "So we decided to get together and try to raise some money and help them get restarted."
