FEW DAYS AWAY FROM A COOL DOWN
Rain chances appear to be very limited today but an isolated storm is possible. Otherwise, skies will be mostly sunny and temperatures will again warm into the low 90s. The heat index should top out in the mid and upper 90s for a few hours this afternoon.
A few storms are possible tomorrow but there is a better chance for storms in the forecast by late week. Temperatures are expected to be cooler on Thursday and Friday in anticipation of rain and extra cloud cover. current indications show that a cluster of thunderstorms could move into the Ozarks which would provide us with some widespread rain.
HOT BY THE WEEKEND
It won't take long for the temperatures to warm back above average. Upper level high pressure that is currently located over the Rocky Mountains will move back over the Ozarks by the end of the weekend. That will decrease our rain chances but increase the temperatures.
Highs look to reach the mid 90s on both Saturday and Sunday. Humidity levels will remain high so the heat index could be back over 100 degrees at that point. The hot conditions are expected to last into at least the first part of next week.
