Your used car may be worth more than you think

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--  Car dealerships locally and across the country are reporting fewer cars on the lot.

Be it new or used vehicles, dealers are having a hard time filling inventory.

Several dealerships in town say it's in part due to natural disasters.
The Joplin tornado along with the tsunami wiped out thousands of vehicles, and even halted some production plants from making cars.

Youngblood Auto says the good news for consumers is for those looking to sell a car, or trade one in.  Your payout could be higher than it has been in a long time.

"With the tsunami overseas, it cut off production to all new cars and the effect that had was more people switched and started buying used cars because the new car availability wasn't there.  Well that sucked so many used cars out of the market... everyday we're writing letters to the manufacturers can we please get some more new car inventory," said Brad Teague with Youngblood Auto Group.
