There’s no shortage of fun activities going on around the Ozarks this weekend. 
Here are a few you may enjoy:

Ready to welcome a new member to your family?  The Joplin Humane Society is hosting an Adopt-A-Thon for over 600 pets that were displaced by the Joplin tornado.

What: Adopt-A-Thon

When: Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26, both days 10a-8p

Where: Joplin Humane Society, 140 E. Emperor Lane, Joplin (On N. Main Street Road between Zora Rd and Fountain Rd on East Side)

Details: Adoption fees are being waived.  Please bring a government issued ID and proof of address.

Can’t wait until the Fourth of July?  College of the Ozarks has an event to help you celebrate early.

What: 22nd Annual Honor America Celebration

When: Sunday June 26, 4:30p with events going through at least 9pm

Where: College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO

Details: Picnic at 4:30, Music starts at 5:00, and patriotic program starts at 8:00.0

You can find thousands of ducks that don’t quack in Ozark this weekend.

What: 12th Annual Ozark Duck Race

When: 5 - 11 p.m. Friday, noon - 11 p.m. Saturday

Where: Finley River Park in Ozark

Details:  Variety of activities, including music, kid zone, and a car show.  Kinetic Contraption Race Saturday at noon, pie eating contest Saturday afternoon, and fireworks Saturday night at 9:30p.  5,000 ducks race at $5 each.  www.ozarkduckrace.

The 20th Annual Patriotic Pageant will be presented at Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield on Saturday, July 26, at 7 p.m., and again on Sunday, July 26, at 3 p.m.
 
With over 100 people included in the production, this year's event will include highlights and memorable moments from the last 20 years of the production.   Dramatic scenes include Benjamin Franklin and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Lewis and Clark exploring America, a visit to the Vietnam memorial, a salute to the WWII USO shows, and much more.  All veterans will be honored with a special presentation by the choir and orchestra.
 
Everyone is welcome to attend.  There is no admission charge.  Wesley UMC is on Republic Road between Campbell and Kansas avenues.

Ready to spend some time in the air conditioning this weekend at an event that will “rock”? 

What: Osage Rock and Mineral Club 10th Annual Gem, Jewelry, Rock, Mineral, and Fossil Show

When: Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day

Where: The Inn at Grand Glaize, 5142 Hwy 54, Osage Beach

Details: Guests speaker, gift items, demonstrations, and displays.

The Springfield Police Department will host the citizen safety expo this Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Parkview High School.   The purpose of the expo is to educate the public in all realms of safety not only within their homes, but also in their places of business.  The SPD will bring in experts from around the PD to speak on key topics to include:

· Neighborhood Watch
· Shoplifting Prevention
· First Call to Completed Case
· Crime Stoppers
· ID Theft
· Residential Security
· Date Rape Prevention
· Street Gangs
· Embezzlement
· Identifying Counterfeit Money
· Internet Safety
· Seventeen and Bulletproof

Presentations will begin at 11 a.m. and will rotate throughout the day.  The SPD will also display several vehicles for the public to view which include the DWI van, the mobile command post, two new SPD vehicles, motorcycles, Segways, bicycles and a SWAT vehicle. The public is encouraged to attend.
