The 20th Annual Patriotic Pageant will be presented at Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield on Saturday, July 26, at 7 p.m., and again on Sunday, July 26, at 3 p.m. With over 100 people included in the production, this year's event will include highlights and memorable moments from the last 20 years of the production. Dramatic scenes include Benjamin Franklin
and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Lewis and Clark exploring America, a visit to the Vietnam memorial, a salute to the WWII
USO shows, and much more. All veterans will be honored with a special presentation by the choir and orchestra. Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no admission charge. The Springfield Police Department will host the citizen safety expo this Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Parkview High School. The purpose of the expo is to educate the public in all realms of safety not only within their homes, but also in their places of business. The SPD will bring in experts from around the PD to speak on key topics to include:

· Shoplifting Prevention
· First Call to Completed Case
· Crime Stoppers
· ID Theft
· Residential Security
· Date Rape Prevention
· Street Gangs
· Embezzlement
· Identifying Counterfeit Money
· Internet Safety
· Seventeen and Bulletproof
Presentations will begin at 11 a.m. and will rotate throughout the day. The SPD will also display several vehicles for the public to view which include the DWI van, the mobile command post, two new SPD vehicles, motorcycles, Segways, bicycles and a SWAT vehicle. The public is encouraged to attend.
