HUMANSVILLE,Mo--A small town comes together to welcome home a hero.

Brent Chaney just got back from serving in Afghanistan.
The small community of Humansville got together to make sure his homecoming was special.

Chaney is a marine and served for seven months.
He worked a lot on the front lines where many in his group were killed by roadside bombs.
Chaney is now safe at home, so it's time to celebrate.

Chaney was welcomed into town by members of the Patriot Guard Riders. Friends and family were on the sidewalks holding American flags.

"I think my Mom went way over board. I told her I wanted to come home and do nothing, and this is what I got treated to," said Chaney.

The reason behind a big celebration is simple.

"It was just so good to have him home. I just wanted to have a party and celebrate that he was here. There was so many that did not come home from that unit so we wanted to celebrate ours did," said Patty Chaney.

Chaney plans to go back to California where he is stationed at Camp Pendleton.
He eventually wants to go back to school but he is not sure what he wants to do for a career.

He spent some time with his wife in California.  He is also spending a lot of time at fast food restaurants, places that he missed while in Afghanistan.
