SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Graduation Weekend at Missouri State University brings celebrations and the enevitable question - what's next?
One newly graduated group we spoke with was still soaking up the moment of receiving their diplomas. But between celebrating, the question is what's next? And the outlook has its ups and downs.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers says that companies will hire 19.3% more graduates this year than last, and that's good to hear for the unemployed grad.
As for the average starting salaries? They're up about 3.5% from the same time last year.
Mizzou surveyed its 2010 grads and found an even better number for starting salaries - up 6%.
One distinction the class of 2011 is not so thrilled about? Studies say it is the most indebted class ever, with a national average of $22,900 dollars per student.
