SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Church leaders hit the streets to make sure every mother, including homeless mothers, feel important on Mother's Day.

Members with the United Methodist Church in Fair Grove walked up and down Commercial Street handing out purses to homeless mothers.

Church members handed out dozens of bags, all thanks to donations.
The bags had bathroom items, lotions, perfumes, along with spiritual gifts.

"It means a lot. It means other people are out there thinking about us while we are here trying to get our life back on track," said Sharliene Launus.

The bags are also filled with hope.

"Every time I use these, I will be able to think of them. It will help me stay stronger while I'm in this time of need," said Launus.
