SPRINGFIELD,Mo--A forum to discuss health care, specifically a plan from a Wisconsin lawmaker.

The proposal might be voted in the U.S. Senate next week. It already passed in the house about two weeks ago.

Health care advocates that attended a forum in Springfield believe the so called 'Ryan Budget' will do more harm than good.
The proposal converts medicare into a system of vouchers and puts medicaid into a block grant.
Some advocates believe patients will have to foot more of the bill when it comes to health care.
Congressman Ryan's objective is to decrease government spending.

"We say leave medicare as it is for current seniors, but reform it for the next generation so it doesn't go bankrupt," said Ryan.

Launa Jones has post polio syndrome and uses a wheelchair.
She says if the Ryan budget becomes law she will go without.

"The social security that I have paid into should be there. For us to get what we need, but the government has borrowed that money through the years and not paid it back. So why should we be blamed for that?" said Jones.

KY3 contacted Ryan for comment, but no one with his office has responded.

Advocates at the forum believe this proposal will not pass in the senate because of the democrats, but they are worried about the ideas behind it.
