MoDOT, Springfield close highways, streets

including road over Table Rock Dam

High water forces many numbered and lettered highways to close in Southwest Missouri.

April 25, 2011|by KY3 News

BRANSON, Mo. -- The roadway over Table Rock Dam that carries Missouri 265 and Missouri 165 was closed late Monday afternoon, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.  As heavy rain continued, an earth slide occurred near the roadway about 100 yards north of the dam.  The road is closed as a precaution in case a wider area becomes unstable and undermines the road.

The road is closed between the entrance to the Showboat Branson Belle on the south side of the dam and the Missouri 265/165 intersection near the Chateau on the Lake entrance on the north side of the dam.  MoDOT engineers are investigating the slide to determine the extent of the threat to the road.  The dam is not in danger in any way.

CODY, Mo. -- Flooding closed westbound U.S. 60 at Greene County Farm Road 213 west of Missouri 125 at Rogersville.  A sinkhole near the roadway backed up with water from the heavy rains of recent days.

Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction for a half-mile in the eastbound lanes -- roughly between Farm Road 223 on the east and Farm Road 189 on the west,

Drivers should expect westbound lanes to be closed for several days -- until rain stops and water drains away.    They should slow down approaching the crossover points and while driving in the head-to-head traffic portion of the traffic shift, and pay attention to warning signs.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- All lanes of westbound Division Street just west of the intersection at Glenstone Avenue were barricaded due to flooding late Monday afternoon.

A portion of the inside westbound lane of Sunshine Street west of the intersection of Kimbrough Avenue was also barricaded.
