SPRINGFIELD, Mo — The City of Springfield's April 2011 one percent sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue is up 8.2 percent compared to April 2010. Revenue collected totaled $3,735,145 compared to $3,451,208 in April 2010.
Monthly sales tax revenues from the state have varied greatly throughout the fiscal year, and particularly during the last few months. Since January, monthly revenues have been down 8 percent, up 18.6 percent, down 18 percent and up 8.2 percent.
Revenue remains in positive territory for the year. Year-to-date sales tax revenue for Fiscal Year 2011 is 1.7 percent above the previous year. Year-to-date collections total $30,417,431 compared to $29,911,088 in FY2010 - a difference of about $506,000.
