LIGHT SNOW STARTS THE THE WEEK; FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT

The cold East wind offers little help in breaking free of the control High pressure system in place over the Northern Midwest.

While warming winds and moisture is available high above the Earth... the surface winds are keeping a lock on the late March misery.  For now.

Light snow and sleet have increased their coverage over the Ozarks this evening.  Accumulations should be modest and light, even though the radar looks scary and wintery.  At most, Northern Ozarks communities from Rolla, Waynesville, Lake of the Ozarks to Warsaw should see no more than 1-2".

Parts South should see a wintry mix of light snow, sleet and freezing rain.

FREEZE WARNINGAdding insult to injury (but hopefully not, be careful!), a hard freeze is likely for the region tonight into Monday morning.  Remember to bring in potted plants and seedlings if possible.  If not, cover them with a breathable cloth... never plastic.  When temps are above freezing at your house, remove the cloth and let the incoming solar radiation work it's natural magic for a few hours.

NEXT BEST CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW IS TUESDAY

What seems to be the strongest weather wave of the week will move through Tuesday.  Expect periods of rain and thunder to begin in the morning and last through at least midday.  Several surges of rain may pass through the region including into the afternoon and evening hours... not great news for fans holding St. Louis Cardinals vs. Springfield Cardinals tickets.  I wish we could substitute Friday's weather for Tuesday... but my meteorological might is lacking in that area.

WARMUP ON THE WAY

Cold weather continues through Thursday, where there's another opportunity for rain (maybe snow North again).  After that, a major pattern change occurs and allows that wonderful Spring warmth back into the Ozarks with highs in the 60s and 70s.

Enjoy your week.
