SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The former owner of a business in Branson West pleaded guilty in federal court to filing a false tax return.  Randall Pennington, 51, owned Total Balance Orthotics, which sold orthotic shoe inserts.

The U.S. attorney's office says Pennington admitted earning more than $4 million from 2000 to 2004, for which he owed nearly $318,000 in income and self-employment taxes, but paid only $1,000 in taxes for 2002.  Pennington, who now lives in Houston, TX, pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return for 2002.  He could face up to three years in federal prison without parole, and pay a fine up to $250,000.
